“Once upon a racquet, in the groovy 1970s, a handful of badminton enthusiasts banded together with a common dream: to hit those shuttlecocks like champs and dominate the Leamington and Warwick leagues. Little did they know, they were sowing the seeds of what would become the iconic Warwick Bears. Back then, our club went by the mysterious moniker of xxxxxxxxxxxxxx, but as the winds of change blew through the 1990s, we teamed up with another crew of players and roared into the scene as the Warwick Bears.

Legend has it that our club’s origin story was crafted in the cozy confines of a local Warwick pub. With racquets in hand and a fiery passion for the game, we battled it out at the bar, all the while nursing pints of refreshment. As the night raged on, laughter and competition intertwining, the idea was born. And just like that, in the midst of camaraderie and liquid inspiration, the Warwick Bears emerged into the world.

Since that fateful day, we’ve grown from a fledgling bunch of people who are old enough to know better!  into a seasoned force to be reckoned with, both in numbers and skills. We’ve blossomed into a club that supports an array of local league teams in the dynamic arenas of Men’s, Ladies, and Mixed doubles. Our saga took a new twist in 2002 when we boldly entered the Coventry leagues, marking yet another chapter in our glorious tale.

So here’s to the past and the future, to the shuttlecocks we’ve smashed and the friendships we’ve forged. The Warwick Bears continue to write history with every drop of sweat, every triumphant rally, and every shared moment of the beautiful game we adore.”
